Your scouts have just returned with a handful of half-frozen refugees, the generator is chewing through coal faster than your gathering posts can supply it, and now the engineers are demanding you sign the Radical Treatment law before the infirmary overflows.
Generator — the immense, coal-hungry furnace at the city's heart. Every minute you balance its heat output against dwindling fuel reserves, adjusting the steam level to keep homes from freezing without bankrupting your stockpile.
Work hours — a slider that shifts between standard shifts and emergency 24-hour labour. Extending it buys you the resources to survive tomorrow's storm; it also buys you a discontent bar edging into the red.
Expeditions — teams you outfit and send into the white wilderness. They bring back lost survivors, steam cores for your automatons, and the grim news that there is nothing out there but more ice.
Law Book — where you codify hope or control. Signing the Child Labour law gets bodies into the workshops. Signing the House of Healing keeps the faithful alive when your doctors are overwhelmed. Each choice closes a door.
Technology tree — the workshop's slow, hopeful crawl towards steam automatons that work through the night, airships that scout further, and insulation upgrades that turn shacks into homes.

What do you actually manage in Frostpunk?
You control the city's heat, citizen work hours, food rations, medical care, technology research, outward expeditions, and the law book that shapes society's rules.
Does Frostpunk have a mode with no fixed ending?
Yes, the endless mode gives you eight distinct maps, each with its own landscape, weather patterns and survival challenges, so a single city can run indefinitely.
